Bird and Dine ventures into Africa

Thanks to Bo Beolens, we have put up our first Bird and Dine site outside the UK or Ireland.   It’s the Raft restaurant in Walvis Bay in Namibia, and it ticks all the Bird and Dine boxes!

Please check it out and let us know of any other suitable places you know of, anywhere in the world.

This unusual restaurant is built on stilts at the end of its own private jetty in the striking Walvis Bay Lagoon.
It’s an ideal place to watch the sunset with a drink in hand, or enjoy a lazy lunch, experiencing lagoon life in all its variety.
The Raft is built with solid wood floors using old timbers from the original Namibian Walvis Bay jetty.   It has high ceilings, panoramic views and cosy log-burning fires in winter with an open-air deck for the warm summer months.
On good days dolphins delight guests with their antics as they ‘play’ with the seals.    Numerous birds patronise the waters surrounding the restaurant, including the flamingos which perform their ballet under floodlights nightly.   To complement this exotic display, Pelicans glide effortlessly through the warm air whilst the resident herons take their evening promenade.
The Raft restaurant’s gastronomic menu is extensive, comprising fresh seafood, game and meat – featuring local and international fare. With the backdrop of dolphins, pelicans, flamingos and kite surfers, swimming, flying and slipping past the dining room windows it’s a recipe for total enjoyment.
