Josie’s Restaurant leads the way

Josie Corkery, who runs Josie’s Lakeview Restaurant in Kerry, Ireland, has kindly been in touch to say how much she enjoys Bird and Dine, and sent us a picture of a White-tailed Eagle over the lake, and a snowy scene with Mute Swans – both taken from the Restaurant itself.  Thanks Josie – we have added your pictures to the gallery.

If you follow the link above, you will see that Bird and Dine has visited Josie’s for lunch twice in the last year and seen an eagle each time. Why not go and try your luck? Even if you don’t see the eagle, the food is great and the welcome is warm.

And please follow Josie’s example and send your Bird and Dine-related pictures (and any comments) to birdanddine@gmail.com.

By the way, Josie’s Lakeview Restaurant is nicely situated on the spectacular Beara Peninsula, which is south of the much more famous Ring of Kerry, but a lot of people prefer the Beara – it is more wild, peaceful and remote and less crowded with tourists. Close to Josie’s is one of the most stunning mountain routes in Ireland, The Healy Pass – a real challenge for the cyclist and a most enjoyable drive for the motorist.  It’s really not surprising that the eagles like it round there.  It’s only 30 or 40 minutes by car from Kenmare or Glengarriff, which are on many tourist itineraries, so it’s not a major effort to get there.  Give it a try next time you are in South-West Ireland – you definitely won’t regret it.
