Bird and Dine Team

This site was inspired by a visit to the Orasay Inn on the coast of South Uist, in the Outer Hebrides.  As we approached the restaurant, an otter ran across the road in front of us. While we sat inside, enjoying the view across to Skye, and relishing an excellent meal, we were first treated to the sight and sound of snipe calling from fence posts (something that has almost vanished from southern England) and then, best of all, a male hen harrier glided slowly up and down.
We wanted to tell the world about this wonderful combination of excellent scenery, great food, and exciting wildlife.  Later on, we found some more places, and, after mentioning it to a few birders who liked their food, decided it would a good idea to offer a guide to places that offered a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach.
Of course, one man’s meat is another man’s poison, so this has to be a personal view.  Our idea of an exciting species may not be yours, but such is life.

Hope you enjoy finding new places to relax, enjoy good food and bird in comfort.
